WikiLeaks Releases Previously Classified Government Information

Photo Courtesy - ABC News(WASHINGTON) -- WikiLeaks latest dump of what the site claims is previously classified information contains a treasure trove of revealing communication between U.S. and foreign diplomats over the last few years.

The information, outlined Sunday on the websites of various news organizations that received advanced copies of the documents, could pose nightmarish problems for diplomats around the world.

One account documents alleged communication between Yemeni President Ali Abdullah Saleh and U.S. Gen. David Petraeus, regarding American counterterrorism activity in Yemen.

"We’ll continue saying the bombs are ours, not yours,” Mr. Saleh said, according to a note sent by the American ambassador, obtained by WikiLeaks and outlined by The New York Times. The exchange, theTimes reports, prompted Yemen’s deputy prime minister to “joke that he had just ‘lied’” to his country about the strikes.

Other stories outlined in various reports include evidence of corruption in Afghanistan that could cause yet more angst between the U.S. and Afghan President Hamid Karzai, and one that says the White House tried to cajole Europeans to take Guantanamo prisoners.
